Hand Rankings in Online Poker

When the most exciting part of poker takes place: see who wins and takes the pot. There are an established set of Hand Rankings (universally accepted) determining the winner.

These are listed below from strongest to weakest.

A Royal Flush

The best possible hand “straight flush”, consists of a Ten, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace, all of the same suit.

Straight Flush

Cards of five consecutive ranks, all of the same suit.

Four of a Kind

All four cards of any rank plus one unrelated card.

Full House

A full house: three cards of one rank, and two cards of a second rank.

Flush

Five cards of the same suit, not making a straight.

Straight

Five cards from unrelated suits which all have consecutive ranks.

Three of a Kind

Three cards of the same rank and two unrelated cards.

Two Pair

Two cards of one rank, two cards of another rank, and one unrelated card

One Pair

Two cards of the same rank and three other unrelated cards

High Card

Players have none of the above, the hand with the highest card wins. This combination is known as a “Busted Hand’. Made up of five unrelated cards “no pair, no flush, no straight, nothing at all”.
